Close Protection
Promotion is a good thing; It means you have been rewarded for
the work you have done. The Company sees in you the potential to increase
their own worth by increasing your value and contribution to the Balance
Sheet. You know it means more work, greater responsibilities, and a wider
scope of authority. And you are completely prepared to take these on to
forward your own goals and objectives.
But have you realised that increased position means increased exposure to
personal risks? Now is a perfect time to assess those risks. If you have
not already understood, and done so.
Some positions and companies are immediately self-evident in the implicit
risks associated: An Engineering firm in the Petroleum Industry with
overseas offices. A Logistics firm that specialises in HDTE (Heavy Duty
Transportation & Equipment) with transportation routes in key strategic
nations
Most high-profile commercial entities have already realised and assessed
these risks. And provide their personnel with the Protection required.
This is just good business. With the added benefit of protecting lives
while maintaining security in their investment: You!
But there are others that may not because it is not fully understood that
today, these risks apply to every -and any- one.
Take the boutique firm of ten key people and a small administrative staff
that assist Middle-to-Large Corporations in establishing a presence in a
single foreign locale. Maybe they believe that being "behind the scenes"
provides adequate protection. They may even consider the ticket price of
Close Protection outside of the realm of their own expenditures.
First Rule of Good Business Practice: Protect your investment. And if
the company that has just promoted you wants to do that. Then the costs of
the ticket will be far less than the price of replacing or recovering
you.
If we watch Current Events of the day, we will find that the traditional
targets for threat have changed. It still includes, obviously, High
Profile Individuals. Such as:
- Heads of State
- Political VIP's
- Diplomatic VIP's
- Celebrities
Yet now we must add to that list: Corporate Executives, Overseas
Employees, and any Administrative Personnel in positions of fiscal
responsibility. Their families and any point(s) of weakness they may have.
And we cannot only focus on conventional locations. 'Home Office' is also
a potential risk area. Sometimes more so in that it is often overlooked
There are, of course, Insurance policies and highly specialised firms that
manage and respond to kidnap situations (usually in aim of negotiating a
release of the victim). However, these come into play after the abduction.
A costly and not always successful endeavour.
By now, you may have realised that what we are doing is assessing the
threat. Once that has been done in a competent and thorough manner. We can
now address and devise the correct approach to providing you with the
protection you need.
